Why pound! When you can drill.Putting in posts, shepherd hooks and many sizes of bird feeder holders are easy peasy.It will be nice for planting too.These save so much time and my Ryobi 18 volt drill has plenty of power.If you push too hard you can bury these if you have Ohio Clay soil but hitting reverse pops them right back out of the ground.These have to be 100 times faster, I'm 6' 3" so I could have used longer ones.Now to find a 4"These augers punch way above their weight when used with a good drill. They went through Carolina Clay and roots that a rental auger from sunbelt was struggling with. Only reason not 5 stars is after beating the heck out of them one of the shafts sheared. Still works, just is a bit shorter now.These are awesomeDrill bits worked fine for helping plant bulbs in heavy soilI've bought a second set cuz the first was great. The second didn't have the hex shape extend all the way down the shaft. It's also a rounded hex, not sharp corners. I'm returning the second pair to find another better made. Hard to see in the picture but the rounding is my biggest issue.The only reason why I'm not giving five stars. I wish the rod was a little bit longer to keep the drill away from the dirt. But solid metal design good for the one that you payThis worked well in hard red clay.I bought these to drill holes for border edging stakes. Without these, I would have needed to dig oversized holes to get the required depth and then backfill or set in concrete. Using this I could bore holes slightly undersize of the stakes, then drive them home with a mallet. They got through pretty stony ground without damage and you do need to use torque settings on your drill (and hold on tightly!), but they saved me hours of work. Highly recommended.I wish I'd read the size properly as I should have gone for a longer one. However, no complaints about the product as it was really helpful having 2 in the end (the smaller one is easier to start off then use the larger one if needs be). Great value, strong and just deep enough to get some fence posts in.These really helped me dig holes in some incredibly hard ground around some large trees. They do unfortunately get bound up very fast, but I found it you keep reversing the drill and then going back in but direct them at different angles, eventually you get a hole. I must say even with this it was a lot easier to dig a hole with this than the conventional way, so I would still recommend.Not as sturdy as described and appears to be made of mild steel instead of hardened material that proves the hexagon drive not strong enough as this material twisted in the chuck of my driller.Put these in a normal power drill and use them to break up compacted top soil. They do a fantastic job.
